Scientific program

NANOinBIO 2026 brings together two complementary events in one exciting week.

The program opens with a two-day Spring School (30–31 May), designed for learning and exchange, followed by an International Conference (1-5 June), gathering a broader scientific community.

Each event explores distinct specific themes. Please note that registration is separate for the Spring School and the Conference.

Discover the details above and join us for one or both experiences!

Spring School

Discover the program

The Spring School will include 4 sessions, each consisting of two plenary talks (45 minutes each) followed by a 15-minute Q&A. Each session will take place over half a day.

1. Structure and thermodynamics of soft interfaces (emphasis on bio- and liquid interfaces)

  • Biointerfaces and biomembranes assembly and energetics
  • Molecules folding
  • self-assembly
  • Mechanical deformation of cells
  • Molecular arrangement at liquid interfaces

2. Mechanics of soft matter: viscoelasticity, diffusion and deformation across scales
Main forces across scales: the structure of soft matter

  • Deformation: viscous vs elastic vs viscoelastic (molecular level and macroscopic)
  • Timescale of deformation and rearrangement in soft matter
  • Basics of diffusion (Einstein, biaised diffusion etc)

3. Basics of Electrochemical measurements at the nanoscale

  • Introduction to electrochemical processes
  • Nanoscale vs macroscale electrochemistry
  • Experimental approaches

4. Microscopy techniques: a practical overview of what they can and cannot do

  • Simulation – 30min
  • Super-resolution – 30min
  • Standard EM – 30min
